Daniela Murphy Corella is a professional conservator restorer of cultural heritage accredited by the Italian Ministry of Culture with a specialization in the preservation of wall paintings and easel paintings. Based in Florence, Italy, Daniela runs in parallel her private practice and the nonprofit organization of international conservators and restores, Bastioni, association for the research and study of artworks. Her expertise in the field of cultural heritage has brought her to collaborate with the Italian Ministry of culture in many important campaigns. As an external consultant for the Japanese government-run depart for the preservation of cultural heritage, Daniela’s profession entails travelling extensively to UNESCO world heritage sites throughout Europe, Asia and Africa. With a focus on undertaking investigative studies aimed at understanding the use of lime technology in ancient wall paintings, increase the awareness of sustainable approaches and train young conservators in local communities within the framework of international standards and practices, Daniela has dedicated her professional life to the safeguarding of culture. A lecturer in many universities and keynote speaker in many international conferences, Daniela strongly believes that understanding the meaning of legacy, and respecting that meaning, is key for the flourishing of all societies and cultures.
